Nestled away among the shady residential area north of Interlachen Boulevard, Todd Park combines urban recreation with rustic enjoyment. The park dons a hard-surface basketball court and softball field on its southwest corner. Across an expansive grassy field, Wimbledon hopefuls can play on two tennis courts at the park's northeast end. The playground set at Todd Park definitely helps the younger crowd burn energy so they can sleep better at night. Grown-ups can jog, walk or bike on the network of multiuse paths.
A grove of trees covers the north portion of Todd Park's 33 acres. Meandering dirt trails through the woods offer a scenic stroll among the wildlife and peace of nature. From the trails, walkers can see the wetlands surrounding Meadowbrook Lake in St. Louis Park, Minn.
Todd Park, 4429 Vandervork Ave., also has a cedar-sided park shelter that serves as a warming house so visitors can enjoy the park in the winter. The shelter can be rented for private functions. Renting the shelter provides outdoor activity to liven up a gathering and keep children entertained.
