Mountain View - Ozark Folk Center State Park

1032 Park Avenue

The Ozark Folk Center of Mountain View, Arkansas is America’s only facility that works to share the heritage and way of life of the Ozark Mountain people. It’s lively, it’s entertaining, and it makes learning about Ozark history and heritage loads of fun. It’s an adventure in yesterday’s Ozark way of life that you can see, touch and enjoy today.”

Interesting place. See things being made and created by Craftsman. Really enjoyed watching a lady making copper items with flame to add color, she explained each process. Also watched a man making pottery pie plates and bowls, his finished works are beautiful.

The Folk Center craftmen were located in air conditioned buildings, one craft per building. Very friendly and happy to answer questions. Outdoor musical entertainment was very enjoyable, as 4 youth played string instruments and sung folk music. We had lunch at the restaurant, and the food was delicious! All of the area was clean throughout the areas for visitors, and the well maintained flowers were lovely. The items were for sale directly from the craftsmen as well as from the Folk Center store. The tram provided free transportation up the long uphill climb from the parking area.
