I love this place whether or not there's water in the river, and no matter what time of year. However, in the summer time when the water is running there are a tremendous amount of gnats that really just kill the vibe. Other than thats its incredibly beautiful, peaceful, resourceful, & informative. A huge plus is that dogs are allowed. Small park fee of $5.

Nice trails. The highlight of this park was the ranger who was falling all over himself excited to teach us all about his park and the surrounding area. We all got so much out of our time with him.

This is a wonderful state park for bird viewing in the bosque along the southern Rio Grande just above where it goes into Texas. There are also exhibits, a knowledgeable park ranger and even a small gift shop. This should be a must see for every nature loving visitor to the Las Cruces/Mesilla area.
