BIG BEACH IS BEST — Every year when my family and I come to Maui we make sure to visit Big Beach at least once. Long beach which is great for walking, and the waves are fun to swim in. I wouldn’t advise Boogie Boarding here as the swells can crash down hard. JAWS Food Truck at the main entrance offers delicious street food for a great price. For the adventurous types, you can hike up the cliff at the north end of the beach to go to ‘Little Beach’ **clothing optional** Lifeguards on duty which is reassuring and the beach visitors are always friendly and courteous. Porto-Potties on site.

Awesome state park - so many great beaches. Big beach was our favorite. The black sand beach was really awesome as well. Definitely worth exploring while on Maui! Our friend told us to climb the rocks to the left of the black sand beach and crawl through a small cave to see a red sand beach. Fun little adventure and very easy climb for an extra view!

My favorite beach in the world especially at off peak season. There is also a clothing optional beach over a cinder hill with a climb up and over so if you don't want to expose you family to that it's all good you really have to work to see something. Also you people who don't mind that sort of thing I have been going there for 20 years and it's changed for the better. There are occasionally people taking pictures but they are usually smart enough to ask super melllow vibe for the open minded. Big beach is a state park for a reason it's usually best to be there early because it sometimes gets overcast and even rainy in late after noon early evenings.

The big beach is a really nice place to chill, waves are awesome there is a lifeguard and food trucks at the entrance, parking is free. But a way better experience is to climb that little hill at the end and go to the little beach at the other side of it, every Sunday they are doing a Hawaiian style party with drums didges, and more. That's a nude beach so you might don't wanna go there with the whole family. But for friend's vacation would be a perfect place to stop at. By the way, the view from that little hill that you have to get on to pass to the little beach is just beautiful. Check it out!

Beautiful views of the ocean. Small rough beach (not manicured) but a lovely place to go. Snorkeling is interesting there as the coral is different than many other places - flat and rocky. If you wander around the mountain it is a nude beach on the other side.
