Louisville - Legion State Park

635 Legion State Park Road
662-773-8323

The fourth of the original state parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Legion State Park remains as unspoiled today as when the Choctaw Indian Nation first inhabited the area centuries ago. Hidden in the red hill country of Mississippi, Legion State Park strikes the perfect balance of natural beauty and modern comfort, with all man-made structures in the park designed to complement the pristine beauty of the area. Of particular interest is Legion Lodge, a hand-hewn log structure that has remained unaltered since its construction in the 1930s.

We enjoyed a cabin stay over the weekend. These are old, rustic cabins, somewhat modernized with central air/heat. Beautiful old wood floors/walls/ceilings and stone fireplace make for a wonderful throwback cabin camping experience. The hiking trail was beautiful, circling the lake and piney woods. There were several good picnic spots inside the park.

This is one of my favorite state parks. And this park hasn't been updated since it was built in the 30's; however, there is electricity, heating, and air in the cabins. If you are looking for a quiet rustic camping area this is for you. There's no swimming in the lake. This is a beautiful park in the fall with wonderful hiking and nice helpful rangers.

Nice fall camping at Legion...surprising hills for MS...good hike which the ranger blew all the leaves off of! Nice level site with great trees...small bathroom with very slippery floors outside of the showers...this is closest camping to the Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge which now has bald eagles...we will return and do recommend you check it out

Beautiful park. Campground was clean and ranger friendly. My name was posted on my camp spot so it left no doubt that it was my space. So nice when I first pulled up. Bathhouse was nearby in case you were tired of showering in your camper. I would go again.

RV spots are pretty nice. Very quiet place to stay. Only complaint is they only pick up trash about once every 2 weeks or so...
