Lake Wateree fishing and boating can meet the needs of anyone looking for fun on South Carolina lakes. Numerous Lake Wateree fishing tournaments are hosted here every year, and the park provides a publicly accessible boat ramp, tackle shop and a refueling dock. 

An ample number of Lake Wateree camping sites with water and electrical hookups are available. Many Lake Wateree camping sites can also accommodate large RVs. Although the lake serves as the focal point for Wateree, other day use activities are available including picnicking and a short, wooded nature trail.

Fishing Information: Fishing for bream, catfish, crappie and bass may be enjoyed in Lake Wateree. Visitors may fish anywhere from the banks of the park. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required.

Playground Equipment: Yes
Playground: A newly opened playground is located near the park store. The modern playground includes a spiral slide, a dual wave slide and climbing activities.

Swimming: The park has a swimming area that is swim at your own risk. No lifeguards are on duty. The area has a sandy bottom and deepens slowly and gradually.

Bird Watching: The areas around the lake provide good birdwatching opportunities. Visitors may see bald eagles, osprey and other birds of prey.

Walking/Nature Trails: The Desportes Island Trail is a moderate .7-mile loop trail.

Biking Trails: Biking is allowed on the paved roads of the park and along the Desportes Island Trail.

CAMPING

Camping Information: Each site is paved and has individual water and electrical hookups, and picnic table. The campground is convenient to restroom facilities with hot showers. 50 sites can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, others up to 35 feet. Five sites are pull-through, while 15 are waterfront.
