This is a large State park with a lot of camping (we saw over 180 numbers and the sites just seemed to stretch on and on). We camped in a yurt during the off season which was fantastic as it provided us heat but still gave my family the camping experience and we felt likke we were practically the only ones there! With the new cabin for canines programs the state parks also make it extremely easy and convenient to bring your dog(s). Located directly across from the playground, my kids were able to run back and forth and have plenty to do throughout the weekend. My only con was that we experienced a tornado warning our first night and there is absolutely no where safe to go close by for campers so in an emergency situation be sure you are prepared to drive 20 min into town and know where you will go.

It is lovely place to visit. It is a man made lake (I think largest in US, but not sure). I have been their during winter. However, I really want to let you know winter is not the best time to visit this place. Best time to visit this place is summer. However, during this time there were very less activities in the lake. We were not able to take a boat ride. But still we were able to do fishing. Watching sunset and sunrise with a cup of tea was a different experience. If you visit this place during summer please plan ahead. The lake will be crowed. You need to take swimming, boating and fishing thighs. And take to friends to make it more memorable.

We ended up having to leave the day after we got there because our son got sick (didn't have to do with the park) and we still loved every moment of it. We got to camp by the lake, have a camp fire. The people next to us were amazing. It was a beautiful experience and we would love to go back and every year.
