About Us:
Evers Field is the location of the Centralia High School Football Field as well as the location for Track & Field competitions. The 1/4 mile track is also a popular walking track for the community, as well as the location for some community gatherings, such as the annual Relay for Life.
The field is named for Coach Jimmie Evers who coached the Centralia Orphans Football and Basketball teams for many years.
On the Football Field - Coach Evers held an impressive .753 average over his 16 years as head coach (1951-1967), and assisted Coach Arthur Trout for many of his years where as head Football Coach he (Trout) held a .664 average over 26 years as head coach (1925-1950). Eight Orphans Football teams (7 from this era) finished the season with no losses. These were in 1926, 1927, 1933, 1936, 1942, 1956, 1958, and 1969. Coach Evers led the 1958 Orphans Team, which was the best ever, statistically. They scored an average of 42 points in 9 games, while keeping their opponents to an average of less than 2.
