Always fun at the Lake. But like the last two times we've been there we got stuck in the soft sand. I want to say thank you for the family that helped us dog out way out with their brand new 4x4 truck. I absolutely love the lake but am always disappointed as I'm from Michigan the largest lakes there people can't see across them. Always a fun time playing with the dog or hanging out or even camping. I love Elephant Butte State Park.

You can't really go wrong at Elephant Butte. Sun, sand, water, fun!!!! Whether you want to bring your RV, come hang out just for the day, rent a boat, hike, there is no lack of things to do here. Very reasonable admission fees and the water temp is always decent...usually a bit on the cooler side but it's pretty awesome finding warm spots in the water.....I'm thinking that might have to do with the natural hot springs being close? Just a guess. They do a spectacular fireworks display around the 4th of July. Be careful in the sand....I see cars AND trucks get stuck literally every single time I've gone to "the Butte". Also if you are not a sun seeker be sure to bring an umbrella or shade structure as there is no shade down by the shore. The picnic and camping areas all have covered tables though. Great place for families, couples, dogs, little kids, big kids, even single people as there is enough shore line to find a nice secluded spot to spend the day. I love this place!!!

The sound of water! Soothing. Went there with friends. Had an ukulele. Sang and shouted. Had fun. Joy of mind.

I was only there a few minutes to pick up a friend but I was impressed. Very clean, the lake is beautiful, a lot of boaters and campers. I plan to go back soon to enjoy it all. Then I can give s full scoped out review. Loved it. Here is some awesome info my site just gave to me, and what a blessing. This info and the pics are breath taking. Looks like, and is, a lot of fun. Great place to be in this heat. GO AND HAVE FUN.

Beautiful lake great swimming and water sports plenty of space to set up games and spread out great location for a family or a huge group either for camping or a day trip or to just come and fish. There are several different kinds of fish including some great trophy fish for the fisher kings and queens..This lake has it all and the most friendly park rangers and locals you can ever meet. As well as supplies at the lake or near by all is within walking or biking distance to the lake.
