Eagle Nest Lake State Park

Located on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, Eagle Nest Lake is surrounded by the stunning scenery of the high mountains of the Moreno Valley. This lake is regularly stocked with trout and salmon. Anglers can fish from the banks or by boat and ice fish in the winter.

At 8,300 feet in elevation, the park offers a cool retreat from the summer heat for fisherman, boaters, campers, hikers and wildlife enthusiasts. An abundance of animals make Eagle Nest Lake an ideal location for wildlife viewing.

Beautiful place to camp but for a state park it is lacking. There is only one vault toilet in the campground, only two spots in the park to get drinking water and they are close to each other and there are no electric sites or showers. They call this developed camping but it is more like primitive camping with the lack of amenities park wide.

The view from the main entrance of the park is GORGEOUS especially when the white pelicans are soaring over the lake in June & July! Love that you can drink the water from the pumps scattered around the park!

It is located in western Colfax county in the Marino valley between the Cimarron range to the east AND the main mass of the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the west. The village is at the north end of Eagles nest lake. 2/3s of the year nights are below 32 degrees snowfall avetages62.8 inches but can go as high 140 inches.Usually from April till Sept weather averages in the upper 70s and can go into the 80s. The park is clean has toilets all over.; handicap assesable.camping spots are dry but plenty of drinkable water spouts around the park can reserve spots by internet there's a boat ramp to put boat in lake. Day use is $5.00 a day state camping passes are $180.00 per year and senior passes are $100.00 a year.It is a beautiful quiet place.Give it a visit for one day or do some camping you won' t regret it. The elevation is 8300 ft there is plenty of shoreline to fish from.
