I went to the lake there to teach a friend how to maneuver a kayak. While the space surrounding the lake was lovely - plenty of shade trees and a good looking sandy beach, the lake itself was just vile. Upon approach, it was green and murky. On closer inspection, the water coming into the lake was supplied via a metal pipe. There was no visible outlet. The slime and sludge had taken a life of its own. Something big needs to happen to the water quality before I’d ever consider telling anyone it’s a “great place”’to take the family. And no way, no how would I let anyone I care about get in the water. Disgusting.

Great place to take the kids. Nice beach area separated from the river where other folks can boat or canoe. Also has a nice playground area for the older kids. You can rent paddle boards, floats and other items. The snow cones are amazing on a hot day.

A great place to hang out and play in the sand and water. Refreshing summer fun for the whole family. We love getting our paddle board out on the water as well. Lots of picnic tables and room to play.

A well developed state park with trails and a water park. The river is easily accessible and cordoned off to track little ones. For five dollars entrance fee, well worth it

For the family? Definitely. Cost effective? Totally. $5 a car is well worth it. Availability? If you want a good beach spot go early. This park fills up quick, even on the week days. Bonuses*** Play ground for smaller children, water slide (check hours), restrooms, kayak availability, small boat availability. Complaints? Yes. When you enter the park there is no attendant to take your money. So you must wait in a line of cars to get an envelope, put your money in it and seal it and leave it in the drop box. We waited over 20 mins just to pay. This was an inconvenience in the heat with toddlers.
