Clyde Holliday State Recreation Site

Think of Clyde Holliday State Recreation Site as an oasis. Its tall, willowy cottonwood trees provide shade and serenity. Each campsite is clothed with a variety of trees and other plants to give you that private, secluded feeling. The park borders the beautiful John Day River and is surrounded on all sides by some of Oregon's most pristine wilderness areas. You're as likely to have wildlife neighbors as human ones: the majestic Rocky Mountain elk and mule deer are frequent visitors. You can experience the thrill of seeing steelhead rush upriver to spawn. The park lies in the shadow of the Strawberry Mountain Range just a short drive away.

Really nice campsite. Small, shady and tranquil. Deer and other wildlife wandering through. River. Nature trail. Water and electrical hookups with separate dump out. Clean bathrooms, firewood and ice. Laundry close by in Mt Vernon. Groceries close by in John Day. Everything you need!

This was a great park that is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Open spaces and a river are all around with fishing and hiking too. Lots of stuff to do and ice/firewood available on site. Road noise is a little much during the day, and prices are more for RV camping. Overall great time and great staff.

I love this park, I have taken the grandchildren there numerous times to either play or fish in the shallow river. I have never camped there but they have a very nice set up for both tent and trailer camping

Beautiful green grassy campground with paved power and water sites ($26). Hot showers ($2) and very clean restrooms! Two tipi available for rental ($46), they are big and perfect for a family outing. Large day area and bike path along the river. Thumbs up on this one Oregon!

Top notch but will fill up fast during the summer. Clean and well maintained. Beautiful campground. Bathrooms and showers are awesome. Friendly ranger and host. Only complaint...lots of mosquitos.
