About:-

Chief Logan State Park is located in the heart of West Virginia's southern coalfields. Chief Logan State Park is four miles north of the town of Logan. The park and town share the name of the Chief of the Cayuga Tribe (also known as the Mingo tribe).

This 4,000-acre park is one of the most visited in the state park system. The park features a 25-site campground, outdoor amphitheater, and wildlife center. The recreation enthusiast can enjoy miles of hiking trails, a swimming pool with water slide, tennis, and miniature golf. Picnic shelters and playgrounds are found throughout the park.

The state park is home to the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater and the WV Division of Culture and History's Museum in the Park.

This Park is nice. If you think southern West Virginia has nothing to offer, you are wrong. This Park is better than many other state parks in other rich states. The park is nicely maintained. Lots of picnic spots with rest rooms. One advice: if you want to use restrooms it's best to use the ones in their headquarter/visitor center. Distant restrooms from the visitor center might not be that good. Nice pond to fish. They have old steam-engine near the headquarter that is a cool thing to take pictures. Also they have a recreation center for the residents. You can see local residents walking and jogging in the park. West Virginia is full of natural beauty, and if you are driving by this Park, my adive would be to visit this Park for half an hour, and you wouldn't repent this.

For such an “updated” state park, their trails have seen better days. Three out of the four trails my family & I tried were so poorly maintained to the point where the trail was lost or so covered with debris, you could not continue. The maps are so dated, the new road to take you to the “fancy” hotel & lodging wasn’t even on it. Piss-poor management. Very unhappy ☹️

One of the best parks in the nation. It's West Virginia's only profitable state park. Trails, museum, pavilions, exercise trails, wild animal exhibit, and the theatre. Just one of the best places to be in this state.

I've went here since I was a kid. I loved it then and still do. Absolutely beautiful place to visit. They do a great job with the up keep. It's always nice and clean.
