Oregon - Castle Rock State Park

1365 W. Castle Road

Castle Rock State Park is located along the west bank of the Rock River in Ogle County, three miles south of Oregon, on Highway 2. The park is centrally located in the Rock River Hills region of Illinois, and its rolling topography is drained by the Rock River. The park is representative of the Rock River Hills area with rock formations, ravines and unique northern plant associations. A sandstone bluff, adjacent to the river, has given the park its name.

one of the most beautiful places in Illinois, it's a shame it's in such a poorly run state! The park staff are all top notch, true professionals and just great people. something special to find each month of the year, just what a state park should be.

Seems more like a county park. I would not drive all the way from Chicago for just this park, but if you stop in Oregon and some of the parks it makes for a nice day and would be worth the trip.

Illinois has some beautiful places. This is one of them. You can find beauty even during the gray season.

Easily accessible state park on both side of Route 2! Came across this gem while travelling to Iowa and so glad I stopped for a break! Beautiful place to take pictures and enjoy some nature in IL!
