Canyons of the Escalante RV Park

495 West Main Street

About :

located on Scenic Byway 12, Utah's All American Highway, in Escalante, Utah - the heart of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument." We're the perfect base camp while you tour the area: Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park only one (1) hour to the west and Capital Reef Nat'l Park one and one half (1-1/2) hours to the northeast, and much more in between. Clean, modern facilities in a small town atmosphere in the middle of an extraordinary desert.

The Grand Staircase is a geological formation spanning eons of time and is a territory of multicolored cliffs, plateaus, mesas, buttes, pinnacles, and canyons. It is divided into three distinct sections: The Grand Staircase, the Kaiparowits Plateau, and the Canyons of the Escalante. Despite their different topographies, these three sections share certain qualities: great distances, enormously difficult terrain, and a remoteness rarely equaled in the lower forty-eight states.

Human endeavors have always been limited on these lands, yet their very remoteness and isolation have attracted seekers of adventure or solitude and those who hope to understand the natural world through the Monument's wealth of scientific information.

I couldn’t be happier with my stay. From checking in, to the the site itself, to the showers everything about this site has fantastic. Management was nice and super helpful. They waited for us to arrive after normal check in hours, after giving them a call. Our tent site was quite large and the stone fire pit was a nice feature. The best thing about this campsite were the showers. After a long hike I couldn’t be happier with how clean the bathrooms were and how fast the shower got hot. I’ll definitely recommend this location to anyone hiking in the area.

Clean friendly. Reasonable price. I recommend the cabin with the half bath. Microwave in room. Excellent RV parking, most pull through. Edge of town. Easy walk to several restaurants and grocery store. Very rural town. Fun to walk and enjoy the ambiance of the small town atmosphere.

What a great little campground! We tent camped here after arriving in Escalante late one evening. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Our site was roomy and flat: everything you want a tent site to be. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers were amazing! We didn’t use the laundry facilities but they are available. We were able to park our VW Beetle right next to our tent pad. We were in the site farthest away from the bathroom/shower but only had about a 30 yard walk to get to them. Everything was very clean and well kept. My only suggestion would be to plant grass in the tent pads but, hey, you can’t have everything! Very pleasurable stay and will definitely stay there again when we return to the area! Be sure and check out the Harris Wash/Zebra Canyon Trailhead while you are there!

Hot showers, clean. Laundry is a bit pricey however (approx 6 per load). Internet is fast and reliable. The power went out for about an hour due to extreme weather (completely out of owners control) however they called the power company and kept us updated while we were socializing in the laundry room waiting for it to come back on.

Great park for family fun, lots of trails and local activities. No dump spot on site and RV spots aren't exactly pull through, more like pull to the side of the road.
