Took my 6th grade class there today! Fantastic! Clean! Grass was not soaking wet so kids could play! Beautiful day!

A bit of history: Bunning Park is named in honor of Peter Christian Bunning, born in Germany in 1859 and died in Rock Springs in 1935. Peter immigrated to the United States in 1886, and during his life he would be appointed as the Rock Springs Chief of Police, and elected mayor in 1923, a position he held for ten years. The park was created in 1926 and was referred to as "Bunning's Folly" - many at the time believed that trees and grass wouldn't grow there.

Bunning Park is a nice shady respite in the otherwise hot windswept desert environment of the city of Rock Springs. I find it a nice place to retreat to during the middle of the hottest days. However, the official parking area for this park is not within the shade areas and when I wish to take a nap in my van, I must needs park on the street next to the park.
