Big Creek Lake's clear water provides great family swimming fun. Refreshments are available at the beach during the swimming season. A large wooden play structure, accessible to the mobility impaired, is located at the beach. Disc golf, model air, softball, and volleyball areas provide additional entertainment.

Big Creek Lake provides excellent fishing year-round. The lake's clear waters are stocked with crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, walleye, channel catfish and muskie. The lake is popular for a variety of boating activities. Any size motor may be operated at "no wake" speeds on the lake. Five modern boat ramps, three on the west side and two on the east, provide excellent access to the lake. A gravel ramp is located on the upper end of the lake. Sailboat rigging zones and vehicle parking areas are at each modern ramp. A 88-berth "dry-dock" area is at the northeast corner of the park. Arrangements for rental of dry-docking space may be made through the park office. A fishing pier is accessible to the mobility impaired.

We have been to their "beach," we have played on their playground, we have rented a pontoon two different times. Our experience is that at least there is a place people can go swim in the middle of Iowa, it's a nice big playground and well built. The pontoons... Our first experience with a pontoon was in 2017 and we had no complaints. It was a wonderful, fun experience for all. In 2018 we went back to rent one again, and their prices have jumped greatly this particular year. Not expecting the price jump, we paid the exact same amount as we did the year before, which means we got a little bit worse of a boat. When we got on the boat, it was a lot worse than the year before. The boat was very Rundown. The battery did not work and they had to change it out before we left. There were thousands of ants and the little porta potty, and we thought we would just leave them alone and let them stay there. Nope... Once we took off they spread throughout the whole boat and we're crawling all over our food, coolers, beach towels and us! It was like a small nightmare. The radio didn't work, and neither did any of the other buttons on the boat. Only the motor worked. There were rips in the seating. Management is just not taking very good care of some of these boats. If it's not new, it's not going to be nice. We tried to make the best of it and managed too smile for some pictures. That's a lot of money to spend for everything we experienced.

For a Minnesotan this is pretty close to a real leg and a well designed Marina. Lots of opportunities for fun!

This is a no wake lake with a beach, multiple spots for picnics, a great playground for kiddos, fishing, sand volleyball, and bike trails. Always packed so I would come early if you plan to reserve a spot and BBQ.

DNR was nice, but some uptight Caucasians complained about our kayaks, I think they were scared cause we are different, lol.
