Great place to come for a day hike, and there's a store where you can get hot food, sandwiches, cold drinks and even espresso drinks. Lots of hikes to choose from, and suitable for all levels of ability. It does get very busy at weekends, so parking can get full - even though there is a lot of parking. My favorite hikes are Buzzard's Roost and Berry Creek Falls. Also a good place for tent/RV camping, but reservations are required and spots fill up a long way in advance. Don't show up on a Friday night expecting to stay here if you don't already have your reservation!

Go here for a quick excursion from bay area, it reminded us of Yosemite, not quite as majestic(nothing really is) but its a great state park. Dont miss: 1. Mother of the forest 2. Father of the forest Both of these are on a very easy hike called - Redwood Loop Trail, starts right next to the parking entrance booth. Timing wise, in summers, we prefer to go a bit late around 2-3PM, this still give us a good 4hrs of daylight to work with and we enjoy the trails more, everything is more quiet calm and less crowded. A word of caution though - last bit of the stretch to the park is very curvy and is very narrow. Some parts of this road have a bit of depth after the white line, as we were talking about this, we encountered a stuck car, with 4 people, we helped them out to Ranger station nearby(saving up on good karma for later :))

So relaxing... a hike is a must do to get the full experience. Can really enjoy around as long as you won’t destroy the surrounding. The tree giants keep on surprising you. The smallest hike is a must do see the father , mother and some history of the redwoods

Some very nice trails. Campsites all filled on weekends, but miraculously have available ones during the week. The price is $35 with check-in at 2:00. There are showers for .25 for 4 min. The redwoods give the feel of a forest primeval (sans the murmuring pines and the hemlock). Just a mile or so past the entrance are parking pullouts with trails to explore for free. No one comes here it seems. (but me)

Stop reading this and go. There are dozens of trails, countless miles, waterfalls, redwoods, and so much great nature to enjoy. Easy quick hikes. Long strenuous ones. Whatever you want. Grab a beer at the store afterward as a reward. Good for families and ultramarathon runners.
