Chico - Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park

525 Esplanade

Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park is a beautiful, three-story, 26 room Victorian House Museum that stands as a memorial to John and Annie Bidwell. John Bidwell was known throughout California and across the nation as an important pioneer, farmer, soldier, statesman, politician and philanthropist. Annie Ellicott Kennedy Bidwell, the daughter of a socially prominent, high ranking Washington official, was deeply religious, and committed to a number of moral and social causes. Annie was very active in the suffrage and prohibition movements.

My favorite house in Chico! Home of the founders of Chico, John and Annie Bidwell, this beautiful Victorian has been beautifully restored and preserved so that visitors may experience the home much as a guest would have when the original owners still reaided here. Whether you live in Chico or are just passing through, a tour of this house, and the visitor center/museum, is definitely worth your time!

We walked the grounds, it is well taken care of. The gift shop has a lot of nice things. Tours of the mansion every hour, $6 for adults/$3 under 18.
