Bald Point State Park

Some of the most picturesque scenic areas along north Florida's Gulf Coast are found within the park which supports 4,065 upland acres. Located on Alligator Point, where Ochlockonee Bay meets Apalachee Bay, Bald Point offers a multitude of land and water activities. Coastal marshes, pine flatwoods, and oak thickets foster a diversity of biological communities that make the park a popular destination for birding and wildlife viewing. Each fall, bald eagles and other migrating raptors, along with monarch butterflies, are commonly seen heading south for the winter. Bald Point offers access to two Apalachee Bay beaches for swimming, sunbathing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing. Facilities include a fishing dock and picnic pavilions.

It is a trusting venue. One is responsible for paying for parking while visiting. I hope the visitors are honest and pay the $4.00 fee. I did not know much about this area. I didn’t know the water would be brown compared to other parts of Hwy 98 I traveled earlier.

The beaches at Bald Point are lovely and accessible bathrooms and walkways are in place. Unfortunately, dogs are banned so opportunities for enjoyment are limited to people without dogs. A parking fee is required in exact change with a hefty fine attached.

A great hidden jewel in the Florida pan handle. When we were there the horseshoe crabs were everywhere. It was actually mating season. We found a tagged crab as well. Clean bathroom and changing rooms to use the beach. Located a little out of the way, but that makes this place much more desirable!

Beautifully maintained state park, sea turtle reserve, have designated areas for wildlife watching. Dunes are off limits for restoration time. Easy to see signs warning about alligators. Safe well lit restrooms and parking area, fleets explaining origin of park and the goals it sets forth.

Great Florida state park, very natural kept beaches, very clean restrooms and covered facilities for family picnics and grilling. Beautiful North end fishing pier and sundown observation in addition to a sunrise location south off the sunrise Beach. Many publications mention this State park at bald point being a camping facility actually it has not been developed into campsites at this point, but Rangers say it will be on the books for the future.
