Beautiful waterfall near Hilo! Its a state park with well kept restroom facilities. The park ranger is nearby to help you with the machine payment. Its $1 per person walking in or $5 for parking and covers admission of everyone in the car. Beautiful hike as well through the forest and partially shaded. I recommend going in the direction of Kahuna falls first because it will be an easier hike. Lots of beautiful vegetation along the trails especially the tropical flowers!

Absolutely gorgeous waterfalls, plural. Breathtaking views on the right hand side of the circle walk. You can see out over miles of jungle and multiple waterfalls. The entire loop is about a half mile, but there is significant change in elevation at several parts by way of stair cases. There aren't any rap options, so make sure you can handle several flights of stairs. Dont miss out on all the plant life while you are gazing at the falls. It's quite a treat. There is a pay machine for your parking there. And there is an attendant who just sits there full time to make sure every car is paid for. At $5 a car, it's well worth it. Parking only good for 2 hours, but you most likely won't need more than a half hour.

Akaka Falls is a beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature. There are several places that are worth a picture. The only con is that you get a rude surprise when you walk through the entrance to the trail and a guy asks you to pay for parking $5 and $1 per person. Everyone walked by him and he had to yell and call them back. There are huge signs directing you to the park for miles and a tiny one at the entrance that no one notices. You can park along the road outside the park and save the $5!

One of the most beautiful falls I've ever seen. For sure the best one in Hawaii! There is a short and nice walk from the parking lot to the fall. The area around the fall is set up with chairs and tables, perfect setting for a picnic. I loved the country side roads, farms and the views from up top. This waterfall topped all of the others that I've seen in Hawaii.

Cool spot to check out at least once. It's very hard getting to the top or bottom of this waterfall, but its so much cooler if you can make it. They started charging $5 for parking and $1 to walk the trail. I'll usually park before the gate or just say I did to save five bucks. Also, I've seen credit cards get stuck in the machine at the beginning of the trail...Bring cash!
